Employment Programs
The City of Melbourne offers a variety of employment programs aimed at attracting and developing the talented people of our organisation. In addition to the professional opportunities we provide, the three employment programs we offer are:

Graduate Program
The Suva City council’s Graduate Program aims to attract and develop talented individuals who want to embark on a challenging career within the local government sector.

Our program provides you with a taste of working for a diverse organisation, where your talent will be nurtured and developed, and you will be exposed to a range of career opportunities. We seek graduates from a variety of disciplines who have a sense of community involvement. Key qualities we look for in our graduates are energy, enthusiasm and creativity. We recruit four graduates each year to specific areas across Council. These specific areas vary each year.

Our placement are offering ongoing learning and development opportunities, a competitive salary and a range of employee benefits in a supportive work environment. You’ll have the opportunity to map out your own career path by drawing on the knowledge and experience of our highly talented workforce. These positions are usually advertised in the local fiji times as and when a vacancy arises.

Successful graduates spend their time in the following manner:

• months 1 to 12 - working in a work area most appropriate for the graduate’s area of expertise
  
• months 13 to 18 - gaining broader business exposure in another work area
  
• months 19 to 24 - consolidating experience and skills in the original work area

Recruitment to the program occurs as and when a vacancy arises.

Traineeship Program
Traineeships provide individuals the opportunity to develop practically based skills, while also obtaining a nationally recognized certificate.

More specifically, we aim to promote diversity within Council and remove barriers. Trainees will gain meaningful employment and an educational qualification.

Attachment Program
The Suva City council offers attachment placements for students in a dynamic local government environment. Students have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a diverse range of professional streams at Council.

Our program helps students meet their educational requirements, develop and enhance their skills and knowledge while being exposed to the ‘real’ world of work.
